Ethnography on Women's Soccer in Morocco

In 2007, Meg and fellow researcher Nicole Matuska jumped at the opportunity to spend five months with ACDA, a travelling women's football team in Rabat, Morocco. They documented teammates' day to day life pursuing the wildly popular sport that few women actually played themselves. Nicole and Meg created three short pieces about the team that speak to the position of women in sport and sport in society. Meg returned to the U.S. in 2007 and took a job with Intel to continue video ethnographic work. Nicole currently lives in Morocco and works at the non-profit Women Win enabling economic empowerment and challenging gender discrimination through sport.
